Use Cases
Synths and keys.
Create width, animated depth or evolving modulation without losing the identity of the patch. Use the two sections at different rates for movement that never feels static, add detune for thickness, then push SPACE and SWIRL when you want the sound to drift, bend or start falling apart in a more interesting way.
Vocals.
Add subtle stereo movement, dreamy width or, with the right setting, the kind of character that becomes part of the vocal’s identity, rather than just an effect on top. From the classic soft widening to inspired vocal doubles, quadCHO can make a vocal feel wider, deeper and less obvious.
Guitars.
Move from clean shimmer to wide modulated layers, ambient beds and textured walls. Combine the two sections at different speeds, depth and detune levels to create a unique texture that becomes a huge feature of your guitar sound. Or you can mess about with saturation, get inspired by SPACE and SWIRL, in combination with QUAD, to create a unique effect.
Drums.
Chorus on drums and beats? Meh. What about quadCHO? Yes please. Create movement and width on rooms, overheads, percussion and drum loops, push the modulation, SWIRL and saturation to create new rhythmic textures, unexpected stereo movement and creative effects that make drums feel unique in their own way.
Loops.
Add tempo-locked motion, stereo drift, colour and filtering to make static loops feel less… static and boring. Great for giving a repeated part a sense of evolution without completely rewriting it.
Pads and soundscapes.
Use slow movement, SPACE, SWIRL and VINTAGE mode to create long, evolving atmospheres. This is where quadCHO can stop behaving like a chorus and start behaving like a texture designer.
Creative parallel processing.
Push the effect hard, shape it with filtering and saturation, then blend it back with MIX. Perfect when you want the excitement of a broken sound without losing the original source.
A Modern Modulation Playground
quadCHO is built for producers and mixers who want an innovative approach to the classic chorus effect. It not only gives you the classic ingredients of chorus and modulations, but expands them into a modern modulation playground for movement, texture, stereo shape and creative instability.
The two main sections let you build independent layers of movement, with rate, depth, detune, phase, pan and level, along with introducing new modulation concepts: react, space, swirl and waveform. That makes it easy to create anything from a polished stereo lift to a complex moving effect with its own depth and behaviour.
The creative controls are deliberately musical rather than technical. WEAVE adds an extra moving texture layer around the chorus, building density, stereo detail and satellite-like motion as it increases. SPACE adjusts the sense of distance and separation, which works together with SWIRL, which introduces animated feedback and unstable motion, taking the effect from gentle movement to warped, drifting into more chaotic modulation. The two QUAD buttons turn each section into a denser chorus voice, adding size and movement without needing another plug-in.
The handy global section gives you total control: MIX for blending, DEPTH and TILT for quick tonal shaping, SAT for harmonic colour, WIDTH to shrink the whole signal to mono or push it beyond stereo, main LEVEL control, a zero-latency limiter, HPF and LPF for focus, and VINTAGE to recreate the softer saturation effect you can expect from older units.
quadCHO can quietly widen any element, but it is just as comfortable becoming the sound. That flexibility is the point: chorus, width, motion and atmosphere in one creative tool.
