Why even stack saturations?

Because great tone is built in stages. In the analogue world, sound is shaped by multiple pieces of gear, each adding a small amount of colour and harmonic richness. Those layers add up to weight, depth, and character that would be impossible to achieve by overpushing a single unit. PHATurator helps you achieve that process and colour, effortlessly.

It features six completely different colours of saturation, designed obsessively over the best part of two decades working in real sessions with some of the most coveted hardware units. That experience allowed us to craft six colours that help any source feel more alive: FET, an exciting compressor-style saturator; TUBE, adding tube saturation that pushes sources forward in the mix; TAPE, bringing the glue and thickness; PUNCH, delivering the snappiness of British consoles; PHAT, a proprietary type of saturation that lifts any source, and WARMTH, bringing the creamy weight and growl of 70s style preamps.

These six algorithms deliver the feel and emotional response of the hardware: they breathe, break up, and react to your sources with the same musicality and movement the original units are famous for.

More than just saturation.

But PHATurator isn't just that. We wanted to go way beyond what is expected from saturation. Instead, we created an incredible tool that allows you to stack saturations while adding unexpected features that improve the workflow of PHATurator users. Those features include independent input and output HPF/LPF (two simple but extremely powerful ways to shape the frequency spectrum), auto-gain for easy matching, a zero-latency limiter, and global mix for instant parallel blend. PHATurator also includes three completely different modes: PHAT, our favourite mode with the perfect balance of vibe and control; PHATTER, a very aggressive mode that rebalances all processors toward more saturation; and CLEAN, for when extreme precision is required.

Combining it all, PHATurator is an essential production tool that will speed up your workflow, remove the need to reach for multiple plug-ins, and help you make creative decisions faster.

USED BY PROS

Bob Cooper
"I think PHATurator is gonna be one of those Soothe level game changers for a lot of people. I literally can't work without it now! I use it on pretty much every track - I think it creates so much more depth and definition between instruments and being able to dial in different flavours at the same time is so useful."

Jim Pinder
"I really like the PHATurator. Used it on a bass that had been sent for mixing, it was too spiky sounding so I stacked up bits of distortion to soften the transient and then used the filter to round it off. Ended up with a really fat, round bass sound."

Sam Bloor
"It looks fantastic and is really easy to navigate. The layout is really intuitive so the learning curve was very minimal. I really enjoyed that the finer details were more tucked away so you have the option of getting more nerdy if you want to but the initial instance is quite simple."

FAQS

What is PHATurator?
PHATurator is an analogue-modelled multi-stage saturation plugin. Unlike standard saturators that offer just one flavour, PHATurator lets you stack and blend six distinct analogue circuits - from Tube and Tape to FET and Class A Preamp styles - to colour your sound with rich harmonics, depth, and controlled grit. It also features a global Mix knob for instant parallel processing.
What are the saturation models?
PHATurator includes six distinct saturation algorithms:
  • FET: Detector-driven dynamics (76-style feel) for punch and control.
  • TUBE: Classic tube saturation to make sources fuller and harmonically rich.
  • TAPE: Vintage glue, tasty saturation, and subtle stereo width.
  • PUNCH: Large-format British console saturation with tight low end, snappy transients, and assertive upper mids.
  • PHAT: Fuller low-mid punch with pleasing compression-like behaviour. Very loudness-friendly.
  • WARMTH: Thick, transformer-rich 70s British Class A preamp vibe with creamy low mids.
