Why Dual Limiting?

A great limiter does two jobs at once: it shapes and it protects. leONE lets you dive into character first, then control dynamics through two independent stages, allowing for flexible gain staging and ultra-clean limiting when needed.

Before the signal reaches the main limiting stage, leONE lets you change its weight, presence, density, and texture. Low-end resonance, tube saturation, transformer colour, and lo-fi processing are placed before the dynamic stages, so the limiter responds to a richer, more refined signal when needed.

The first limiting stage CLAMP can be ultra-transparent or full of character, thanks to its variable release control and GRIT mode, which transforms it into a more coloured, characterful limiter.

The second stage is there for final protection: a transparent limiter with a ceiling fixed just below 0 dB, designed to keep the output from exceeding that ceiling, with either a smooth or aggressive response.

In classic fedDSP style, leONE also includes an advanced panel with highly useful controls: global high-pass and low-pass filters, selectable stereo or dual mono operation, and a MODERN/VINTAGE selector that changes the behaviour and character of every colour stage, including GRIT.

The workflow is deceptively simple, but it allows for huge flexibility.

Whether you’re using leONE for quick peak control on a live performance during tracking, as a gain staging or limiting tool on a bus, or as a character machine, leONE has you covered.

Use Cases

Ultra clean limiting

leONE is built to be as clean as you want it to be, with variable release and two independent limiters that spread the work across two stages for smoother, more transparent limiting.

Bulk it up

Bulk it up

Use the low-end enhancer for deep, resonant weight via the WARM toggle, then refine it with precise HP/LP filtering so the bass stays solid without taking up headroom.

Crush it

Creatively destroy any source: add colour to taste, clamp it with GRIT, then finish it off with the secondary limiter for a clean, peak-capped output.

Control

Dial CLAMP in to set the desired ceiling, then set the release to control the smoothness or excitement of the first limiting stage.

Control

Add presence

Use CLARA when a dull source needs more clarity or presence, then decide how much final limiting you need after the tone is already in place.

Maximum flexibility

From transparent peak control to gritty analogue-style attitude, leONE handles subtle mastering polish and aggressive loudness moves with the same simple workflow.

FAQS

What is leONE?
leONE is a dual-stage limiter designed for creative loudness maximisation and reliable peak control. It combines a colour stage, independent high-pass and low-pass filters, a primary limiter called CLAMP, and a final bypassable safety limiter.
What does the Release control do?
Release changes how fast the limiter lets go after gain reduction. Slower settings recover smoothly for natural, transparent limiting. Ultra-fast settings can create intermodulation distortion on purpose, effectively turning the limiter into an additional saturation stage for extra aggression and density.
What formats does it come in and what DAW does it work with?
We provide VST3, Audio Unit, and AAX formats for MacOS, VST3 and AAX for Windows. Any DAW that supports these formats will work with them, for example: Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Cubase, Studio One, FL Studio, Reaper.
Does it work on Apple Silicon (M1 to M5) Macs? What about old Intel Macs?
leONE is fully native for Apple Silicon chips (M1, M2, M3 etc) as well as Intel Macs. No Rosetta required, but it's also compatible with Rosetta.
System Requirements
Mac: macOS 10.13 or higher (Intel or Apple Silicon).
Windows: Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit).
General: 2GB RAM required, 30MB free disk space.
How many computers can I install it on?
Each license includes up to three simultaneous activations per user. This could be your main studio machine, a laptop, and a third rig. We understand that modern production often means working across multiple machines, so we're doing our bit to have your tools available wherever you need them.
Can I try it before purchasing it?
Of course, you can download a trial from our Downloads page. The trial version has all features of the full version, but inserts a short infrequent silence so you can decide with confidence before you buy.
Do I need to pay for updates?
NEVER. We believe in perpetual license and we like to work uninterrupted. So as long as fedDSP will be a company, your perpetual license will receive unlimited free updates.
Where can I find the manual?
You can read the full User Manual here.
